Type A silica gel, also known as narrow-pore silica gel, consists of transparent and translucent particles. It is categorized into two types: spherical and block. The main component is SiO2·nH2O, insoluble in water and inorganic acids, soluble in hydrofluoric acid and concentrated caustic soda solution. It possesses high mechanical strength and good wear resistance. The pore volume is 0.35–0.5 ml/g, pore size 20–40 Å, and specific surface area ≥600 m²/g.

This product is an important adsorbent suitable for drying various industrial gases such as air, oxygen, hydrogen, and organic gases, as well as for moisture protection in instruments, electrical appliances, textiles, food, pharmaceuticals, clothing, footwear, containers, and various other packaged items. It is also used for dehydration and purification of organic products and air humidity regulation. It adsorbs flammable and explosive gases like acetylene from compressed air.
